Dear Dan ,
As we enter this final month of 2017, I am very grateful for so many things in both my musical and body psychotherapy lives.
I have just submitted two proposal videos to TED Talks:
"Emotional safety: creating a haven for health and wellbeing in a seemingly out of control world, " and "Embracing the power of the heart."
Your thoughts and prayers are greatly welcome. It really feels like
time to bring some of these messages to a much larger audience.
| Embracing the Power of the Heart |
My Listening To Your Body...Following Your Heart workshop at the Natural Living Expo, had an overflowing room and messages that really struck some chords with people there.
The Music Salon with singer/songwriter Rick Drost and visual artist Colleen Sgroi was truly joyous.
Playing and singing with Bobby Gadoury at Grill 37 was also truly joyous.
On December 9, David Scott and Mark
Shilansky will be our featured musicians and rocks and minerals expert
Kyle Russell will be our featured other artist at the Music Salon.
On January 14, I will be leading a Listening To Your Body...Following Your Heart workshop in Newtonville.
This month's featured article is "Closeness: Intimacy and Soul Nourishment." In our increasingly virtual world, our souls can become "malnourished" without sufficient face to face and emotional contact.
Playing a set of original songs at the Loop at the Armory Cafe in Somerville was not only great fun, but also I and met some wonderful other singer/songwriters! Mary and Dann (Three At Home) will be playing in the Music Salon on January 13!
On November 25, 2017, I will be releasing my new Singer/Songwriter album, which contains ONLY original songs. If you would like to get a pre-release copy contact me at lsmheart@aol.com or (617)913-0683.
If you would like to
experience the heart-centered body psychotherapy work I do, and be part
of a community of literal "helping hands," you can attend the monthly Community As Healer Group in Newton on Sunday, December 10 from 1 - 4 pm and Sunday January 7 from 2 - 5 pm.
Your comments and feedback are always welcome!
Heartfully Linda
"What keeps us alive,
what allows us to endure?
I think it is the hope of loving,
or being loved.
I heard a fable once about the sun
going on a journey
to find its source,
and how the moon wept
without her lover's warm gaze.
We weep when light does not
reach our hearts.
We wither like fields
if someone close does not rain
their kindness upon us."
"What brings fulfillment is gratefulness,
the simple response of our heart
to this life in its fullness."
--Brother David Steindl-Rast
"Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray."

Emotional Safety:
Creating a Haven of Well-being
In A Seemingly Out of Control World
|
|
Closeness: Intimacy and Soul Nourishment |
Our
world seems to more and more virtual every day. So much of what used
to be face to face is now done online--be it holding meetings,
workshops, conferences and even coaching and therapist sessions.
While
there are certainly conveniences of being able to participate in events
with others from the comfort of your own computer, a lot is lost when
we only meet in cyberspace.
Closeness,
including emotional and physical contact, is a soul food group, and
without enough of it, our souls and spirits can become malnourished.
Unfortunately, like frogs in a pot of boiling water, this happens
slowly over time, and we may not even be aware of what we have lost as
we lose it. We become numb or frozen and start to define that as the
new normal.
Eleonora Woloy has written a wonderful chapter called "The Many Faces of Closeness," in a book entitled Closeness in Personal and Professional Relationships edited by Harry A. Wilmer. Some of her points are good food for thought.

What is EKP?
| EKP
is Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy, a heart-centered, body-centered
psychotherapy method Linda Marks developed and has taught and practiced
for nearly twenty years. Working with the heart, touch with permission,
the wisdom of the body and the intuitive guidance of the spirit, EKP
creates a special sense of intimacy that deeply touches and transforms
most all who participate.
Participants can be "client," witness
or helper as an individual group member has a "turn" to do deeper
heart-centered, body-centered psychospiritual work in the center. Since
the electromagnetic field of the heart extends out 10 - 12 feet from our
bodies, as we go deeper and open our hearts, we are all touched.
EKP
helps restore our capacity as organs of perception. The skin is our
largest organ, and a source of soul deep knowing, perception and
expression. When our hearts and hands can work as one, we move beyond
defenses safely and respectfully and find freedom, connection and
expression.
Emotional
safety is the foundation of EKP. When we are emotionally safe, we are
more aware of feelings, sensations and deeper thoughts in our bodies and
hearts. You will have a chance to listen to and care for your heart as
you help create and hold a safe healing space for everyone's heart.
Experience what we mean when we say that in EKP, "when anyone has a turn, everyone has a turn."
