"Compassion is a spontaneous movement of wholeness.
It is not a studied decision to help
the poor, to be kind to the unfortunate. Compassion has a tremendous
momentum that naturally, choicelessly moves us to worthy action. It has
the force of intelligence, creativity and the strength of love."
--Vimala Thakar
"Only as high as I can reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I
go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be."

Laura Loved: A Tribute to Laura Weingast Nieratko |
On
Tuesday, September 27, Laura Weingast Nieratko, my friend of many
years, sadly passed away after a 4 year courageous battle with stage 4
colon cancer. Laura and I met through the world of personal growth, a
lifelong passion for both of us. And our paths crisscrossed many times
over the course of many years through personal growth workshops and
communities.
About
8 years ago, Laura and I were buddies in a workshop that focused on our
life visions, and we started a wonderful ritual of weekly lunches
together. During these few years, we grew very close, as we not only
share our hopes and dreams, but also our journeys. There is something
very special about touching in every week with a close friend, as life
choreographs its various twists and turns, sometimes happy, sometimes
sad.

Music Notes
|
| Singing at Celia Slattery's open mic at Ryles with Mark Shilansky and Greg Holt |
Music is such a
source of great joy, and is a universal language to connect people
heart-to-heart. In addition to my own musical gigs, I also participate in many of the wonderful open mics and other musical events available to local singers:
Amazing Things Arts Center organized by Leslie Holmes
Many
BACA (Boston Association of Cabaret Artists) singers perform in a
monthly open mic. This month, it is October 12 at 7 pm.
BACA
(Boston Association of Cabaret Artists) Open Mics in Watertown (next
one is Wednesday, October 26 at 7 pm at UU Church in Watertown)
Club Café in Boston has many open mics hosted by a wonderful variety of singers and pianists in its Napoleon Room.
The Winiker Band brings
their unique joyous musical flavor to Brothers Restaurant in Brookline,
MA on Saturday and Sunday nights. Singers are welcome.
And here in Waltham at my home, I host special house concerts through the Music Salon. I will be hosting young singer, Abigail Arndt accompanied by John O'Leary on guitar and Margaret Arndt on harmonies on October 1. Nashville duo Danika Holmes with Jeb Hart will share their gifts on November 10, And fabulous singer-songwriter Dean Stevens will join us on March 18.

What is EKP?
| EKP
is Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy, a heart-centered, body-centered
psychotherapy method Linda Marks developed and has taught and practiced
for nearly twenty years. Working with the heart, touch with permission,
the wisdom of the body and the intuitive guidance of the spirit, EKP
creates a special sense of intimacy that deeply touches and transforms
most all who participate.
Participants can be "client," witness
or helper as an individual group member has a "turn" to do deeper
heart-centered, body-centered psychospiritual work in the center. Since
the electromagnetic field of the heart extends out 10 - 12 feet from our
bodies, as we go deeper and open our hearts, we are all touched.
EKP
helps restore our capacity as organs of perception. The skin is our
largest organ, and a source of soul deep knowing, perception and
expression. When our hearts and hands can work as one, we move beyond
defenses safely and respectfully and find freedom, connection and
expression.
Emotional
safety is the foundation of EKP. When we are emotionally safe, we are
more aware of feelings, sensations and deeper thoughts in our bodies and
hearts. You will have a chance to listen to and care for your heart as
you help create and hold a safe healing space for everyone's heart.
Experience what we mean when we say that in EKP, "when anyone has a turn, everyone has a turn."
