The album is be available through my website, through CDBaby, Amazon and iTunes.

On August 24, Claire McFarland, Terry Smith (on guitar) and I had the chance to perform "Everybody's Got A Song To Sing" at the BACA Open Mic.  This is an original song I co-wrote with Lisa Wexler that is on my new album and will be part of our show.

Everybody's Got A Song To Sing

I am delighted to have three more performances coming up:

On Sunday, September 18, I will be singing with the fabulous Bobby Gadoury and his trio at Grill 37 in Pomfret, CT.

On Saturday, October 1, Terry Smith (guitar), Claire McFarland (vocals) and I (vocals and keyboard) will be doing a jazz brunch at one of my favorite spots, Cafe L'Aroma in West Newton at 11 am.

And on Thursday, October 27, Dave Birkin (flute and sax), Terry Smith (guitar), Claire McFarland (vocals) and I will be the featured performers at a fundraiser for Freeing Cancer Together in Wellesley beginning at 6 pm.

My bandmates and I are available for hire at your private events, as well as at clubs, restaurants and anywhere music is desired. I am grateful to have a full band of wonderful musicians who can be hired in many different combinations! Please contact me if you would like to arrange a performance!

My article this month is: The Power of Love In Healing.

On Saturday, October 1, I am delighted to welcome young singer Abigail Arndt accompanied on guitar by veteran performer John O'Leary and back on harmonies by her mom, Margaret Arndt for a house concert, here in Waltham at the Music Salon!

Poet Beatriz Alba will read a poem during dinner.

Enjoying their heartful and soulful music in an intimate setting is a very special treat!  We are having a potluck dinner at 6 pm and the music starts at 7 pm.  E-mail me at lsmheart@aol.com to make your reservation!

"Compassion is a spontaneous movement of wholeness.
It is not a studied decision to help the poor, to be kind to the unfortunate.  Compassion has a tremendous momentum that naturally, choicelessly moves us to worthy action.  It has the force of intelligence, creativity and the strength of love."

--Vimala Thakar

"Only as high as I can reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be."

--Karen Ravn

When the Words Won't Come
I don't know about you, but for me, sometimes things happen that are just too hard, shocking or painful to fully grasp.  When that kind of event happens, I am taken aback, left speechless, often stunned and just can't wrap my heart or head around what has happened.  Even if I try to intellectually analyze the event or the circumstances leading to it, I just can't put all the pieces together, and have to just sit with the reality that what has happened is something that at the present time, I just can't understand.

I may feel sadness.  I may feel scared.  I may feel numb because it is all too big.  And I may feel overwhelmed, knowing this is too big for me alone, and wishing there was someone I could turn to for connection or understanding or perspective or comfort, or all of the above.

Music is such a source of great joy, and is a universal language to connect people heart-to-heart. In addition to my own musical gigs,  I also participate in many of the wonderful open mics and other musical events available to local singers:

Amazing Things Arts Center organized by Leslie Holmes
Many BACA (Boston Association of Cabaret Artists) singers perform in a monthly open mic.  This month, it is September 14 at 7 pm.

BACA (Boston Association of Cabaret Artists) Open Mics in Watertown (next one is Wednesday, September 28 at 7 pm at UU Church in Watertown)

Club Café in Boston has many open mics hosted by a wonderful variety of singers and pianists in its Napoleon Room.

The Winiker Band brings their unique joyous musical flavor to Brothers Restaurant in Brookline, MA on Saturday and Sunday nights.  Singers are welcome.

And here in Waltham at my home, I host special house concerts through the Music Salon.    I will  be hosting young singer, Abigail Arndt accompanied by John O'Leary on guitar and Margaret Arndt on harmonies on October 1.    And fabulous singer-songwriter Dean Stevens will join us on March 18.

What is EKP?
EKP is Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy, a heart-centered, body-centered psychotherapy method Linda Marks developed and has taught and practiced for nearly twenty years. Working with the heart, touch with permission, the wisdom of the body and the intuitive guidance of the spirit, EKP creates a special sense of intimacy that deeply touches and transforms most all who participate.

Participants can be "client," witness or helper as an individual group member has a "turn" to do deeper heart-centered, body-centered psychospiritual work in the center. Since the electromagnetic field of the heart extends out 10 - 12 feet from our bodies, as we go deeper and open our hearts, we are all touched.

EKP helps restore our capacity as organs of perception. The skin is our largest organ, and a source of soul deep knowing, perception and expression. When our hearts and hands can work as one, we move beyond defenses safely and respectfully and find freedom, connection and expression.

Emotional safety is the foundation of EKP.  When we are emotionally safe, we are more aware of feelings, sensations and deeper thoughts in our bodies and hearts.  You will have a chance to listen to and care for your heart as you help create and hold a safe healing space for everyone's heart.  Experience what we mean when we say that in EKP, "when anyone has a turn, everyone has a turn."

I welcome dialogue and comments on my articles through my blog: HealingHeartPower.blogspot.com  It is user friendly, and even something you can subscribe to.

Heartfully,

Linda Marks
