Get your tickets now for our wonderful show on Thursday, September 1 at 8 pm
with a fantastic team of musicians: Doug Hammer on piano, Dave Landoni on bass, Dave Birkin on saxophone and flute, Miki Matsuki on drums and Junko Fujiwara (the cello diva) on cello! 13-year old singer Claire McFarland will join me on duets for two original songs!
The album will be available through my website, through CDBaby, Amazon and iTunes.
I am delighted that a second video of me singing, this time "Don't Cry Out Loud," filmed by Melinda Gordon was selected as one of five finalists by WooTube. The August episode, which features my video, will premiere Wednesday, August 3rd at 10:30 pm on Charter TV, and will be available On Demand after the show's premiere. On August 3, you can view the video.
I
had the privilege of presenting two workshops at the 2016 United States
Association of Body Psychotherapy Conference on July 21 and July 22 in
Providence. This was our 20 year anniversary conference and what a
fabulous job President Beth Haessig and Conference Organizer Linda Heck
did putting it all together!
My article this month is: The Power of Love In Healing.
On Saturday, October 1, I am delighted to welcome young singer Abigail Arndt accompanied on guitar by veteran performer John O'Leary and back on harmonies by her mom, Margaret Arndt for a house concert, here in Waltham at the Music Salon!
We will also enjoy the inspirational visual art of Lidia Scher! I personally own 5 of her pieces, and LOVE the energy her art emanates. Poet Beatriz Alba will read a poem during dinner.
Enjoying
their heartful and soulful music in an intimate setting is a very
special treat! We are having a potluck dinner at 6 pm and the music
starts at 7 pm. E-mail me at lsmheart@aol.com to make your reservation!

"What remains when stress and artifice fall away?
Nonjudgmental awareness of the
moment characterized by clarity, kindness, insight and
non-attachment...even when you're clear about feeling like a mess!
Loving awareness is a person's essential self or true nature, the root
of enlightened social action and healing."
--Joan Borysenko
"Mind is both embedded and embodied in our relationships."

The Power of Love In Healing |
The
Power of Love is a topic that inspires music. Luther Vandross sang a
song about "the Power of Love." Burt Bacharach wrote "Love Power."
Countless other songs talk about the power of love. Empathy and caring
often make the difference in medical care. Many of my clients have
noted that a caring, empathic doctor made them feel much better when
leaving an appointment than a cold, facts only doctor.
At
the 2016 United States Association of Body Psychotherapy Conference,
Joan Borysenko noted that kindness is actually good for health and
healing, and so are empathy and caring. Tender loving care actually
reduces IL-6 and cortisol levels and increases HGH levels. Joan said,
"when stress and the false self fade away, you become who you truly are.
Loving awareness is a person's essential or true nature."
And
loving awareness has a power to heal, both in the here and now and
transgenerationally. The field of epigenetics explores how stress is
carried through generations. Molecules of emotion cause epigenetic
changes that can go our for four generations. If we can create calm,
peace and healing, we can not only improve the quality of our lives now,
but also we can transform trauma that was passed down to us from past
generations, and prevent trauma from being passed down to future
generations.

Music Notes
|
| With Cabaretfest Founder Patricia Fitzpatrick |
Music is such a
source of great joy, and is a universal language to connect people
heart-to-heart. In addition to my own musical gigs, I also participate in many of the wonderful open mics and other musical events available to local singers:
Amazing Things Arts Center organized by Leslie Holmes
Many
BACA (Boston Association of Cabaret Artists) singers perform in a
monthly open mic. This month, it is August 10 at 7 pm.
BACA
(Boston Association of Cabaret Artists) Open Mics in Watertown (next
one is Wednesday, August 24 at 7 pm at UU Church in Watertown)
Club Café in Boston has many open mics hosted by a wonderful variety of singers and pianists in its Napoleon Room.
The Winiker Band brings
their unique joyous musical flavor to Brothers Restaurant in Brookline,
MA on Saturday and Sunday nights. Singers are welcome.
And here in Waltham at my home, I host special house concerts through the Music Salon. I will be hosting young singer, Abigail Arndt accompanied by John O'Leary on guitar and Margaret Arndt on harmonies on
October 1. Inspiriational visual artist Lidia Scher will share
some of her work. And fabulous singer-songwriter Dean Stevens will join us on March 18.

What is EKP?
| EKP
is Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy, a heart-centered, body-centered
psychotherapy method Linda Marks developed and has taught and practiced
for nearly twenty years. Working with the heart, touch with permission,
the wisdom of the body and the intuitive guidance of the spirit, EKP
creates a special sense of intimacy that deeply touches and transforms
most all who participate.
Participants can be "client," witness
or helper as an individual group member has a "turn" to do deeper
heart-centered, body-centered psychospiritual work in the center. Since
the electromagnetic field of the heart extends out 10 - 12 feet from our
bodies, as we go deeper and open our hearts, we are all touched.
EKP
helps restore our capacity as organs of perception. The skin is our
largest organ, and a source of soul deep knowing, perception and
expression. When our hearts and hands can work as one, we move beyond
defenses safely and respectfully and find freedom, connection and
expression.
Emotional
safety is the foundation of EKP. When we are emotionally safe, we are
more aware of feelings, sensations and deeper thoughts in our bodies and
hearts. You will have a chance to listen to and care for your heart as
you help create and hold a safe healing space for everyone's heart.
Experience what we mean when we say that in EKP, "when anyone has a turn, everyone has a turn."
