Articles in this issue are: "Incompatibility As a Crucible For Love" examining how the issues that appear to keep us apart actually invite us to get closer to one another, and "What Men and Women Need: Hormones and Relationship" exploring some key research from relationship expert John Gray.
The Willingness: The Key to Successful Relationships workshop
at the home of Margaret Arndt and David Sneickus in Auburndale was very
well attended and a big success. I will be doing a series of similar
workshops in the months to come. Stay tuned.

What is EKP?
| EKP
is Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy, a heart-centered, body-centered
psychotherapy method Linda Marks developed and has taught and practiced
for nearly twenty years. Working with the heart, touch with permission,
the wisdom of the body and the intuitive guidance of the spirit, EKP
creates a special sense of intimacy that deeply touches and transforms
most all who participate.
Participants can be "client," witness
or helper as an individual group member has a "turn" to do deeper
heart-centered, body-centered psychospiritual work in the center. Since
the electromagnetic field of the heart extends out 10 - 12 feet from our
bodies, as we go deeper and open our hearts, we are all touched.
EKP
helps restore our capacity as organs of perception. The skin is our
largest organ, and a source of soul deep knowing, perception and
expression. When our hearts and hands can work as one, we move beyond
defenses safely and respectfully and find freedom, connection and
expression. | Linda Marks, MSM |
Emotional
safety is the foundation of EKP. When we are emotionally safe, we are
more aware of feelings, sensations and deeper thoughts in our bodies and
hearts. You will have a chance to listen to and care for your heart as
you help create and hold a safe healing space for everyone's heart.
Experience what we mean when we say that in EKP, "when anyone has a turn, everyone has a turn."

Incompatibilty As A Crucible For Love
|
When people leave relationships, they often speak of "incompatibilities."
Incompatibility does not
need to mean "deal breaker." And even more so, relationship experts
Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt believe that ALL right
relationships have incompatibilities. It is the nature of love and the
nature of deepening intimacy and love.
When people first fall
in love, they feel a connection with their partner, and often focus on
the sameness and feeling of connection. The sameness and feeling of
connection are real, however, as intimacy deepens, there is more under
the surface that is not as comfortable and cozy as the sameness and
connection in the new relationship energy stage.

Workshops: Willingness: The Key to Successful Relationships and Community As Healerl |
This
winter, I will be doing two workshops periodically, one on
relationships at the home of Margaret Arndt and David Sneickus in
Auburndale, and Community As Healer here in Newtonville. Stay tuned as I
set dates for the winter shortly.
"Willingness: The Key to Successful Relationships"
Relationships
have the potential to provide great comfort, but sometimes they provide
disappointment, struggles and pain. Relationships get stuck when
people repeat the same patterns over and over again, lacking the tools
or insight to get underneath what doesn't work to unearth deeper issues
that really matter. This workshop will explore "willingness" and why it
is the key factor for happy and healthy relationships, and will offer
coaching tips to help people work more deeply with challenges rather
than blame, shut down or walk away.
We will explore:
* the evolution of relationships and the phases they go through as intimacy evolves * why working through issues is so important in the growth of a healthy relationship *
the importance of cultivating practices of willingness, appreciation
and gestures of goodwill to nurture and sustain relationships * self-care and self-responsibility as a foundational piece for healthy relating * what it means to love another person on their own terms so they really feel loved
Contact Margaret as msarndt@verizon.net
*************************************************************************************************************** "Community As Healer Workshop"
In
EKP, there are four roles: client, therapist, witness and helper, and
when anyone has a turn, everyone has a turn due to the impact of the
cardiac energy field. Workshop participants will have a chance to be
helper and witness as well as client, so in any one turn, more people
can be actively involved. By being with others in the healing process,
one might say the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and each
individual benefits from the healing work of others.

,What Men and Women Need: Hormones and Relationship
|
Next
time your male partner sits on the sofa and proceeds to veg out in
front of the tv, rather than complaining, say "thank you." By relaxing
on the sofa, his body can literally let down from the stress of the day
and generate more testosterone to bring to you in the bedroom or bring
to the world as he works diligently by day. And the next time your
female partner needs to talk when she is emotionally upset, realize she
is trying to take care of her physical health as well as her
psychological health, so she can be closer to you. The part of the
brain that regulates emotional response in women under stress is 2 1/2
times greater than in men. A woman needs to talk to destress. The
most recent work of relationship expert John Gray shows how what men
and women really need has a lot to do with their hormones.
Understanding our most basic and primal wiring is key to appreciating
what will make us happy.

My first blog at www.heartspacecafe.com/blog
will still be active, but it is built in forum software, which many
people find more cumbersome to use than official "blog" software. In an effort to cultivate more dialogue in more contemporarily relevant ways, my new blog at HealingHeartPower.blogspot.com is user friendly, and even something you can subscribe to. Please let me know what you think of this new blog. |
