Articles in this issue are: "For Love or For Money," exploring research on how marital bliss is harmed by materialism, "The Psychology of Perception: The Danger of Misplaced Attention and Priorites," exploring how in our narrow daily mindsets, we miss extraordinary beauty and many other important parts of life.
I will be doing two special workshops in November. Willingness: The Key to Successful Relationships will be held on Friday, November 18 at the home of Margaret Arndt and David Sneickus in Auburndale, and Community As Healer on Sunday, November 20
in Newtonville. Together we can create safe healing space in the
larger world and empower people to literally, "lend a helping hand."

What is EKP?
| EKP
is Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy, a heart-centered, body-centered
psychotherapy method Linda Marks developed and has taught and practiced
for nearly twenty years. Working with the heart, touch with permission,
the wisdom of the body and the intuitive guidance of the spirit, EKP
creates a special sense of intimacy that deeply touches and transforms
most all who participate.
Participants can be "client," witness
or helper as an individual group member has a "turn" to do deeper
heart-centered, body-centered psychospiritual work in the center. Since
the electromagnetic field of the heart extends out 10 - 12 feet from our
bodies, as we go deeper and open our hearts, we are all touched.
EKP
helps restore our capacity as organs of perception. The skin is our
largest organ, and a source of soul deep knowing, perception and
expression. When our hearts and hands can work as one, we move beyond
defenses safely and respectfully and find freedom, connection and
expression. | Linda Marks, MSM |
Emotional
safety is the foundation of EKP. When we are emotionally safe, we are
more aware of feelings, sensations and deeper thoughts in our bodies and
hearts. You will have a chance to listen to and care for your heart as
you help create and hold a safe healing space for everyone's heart.
Experience what we mean when we say that in EKP, "when anyone has a turn, everyone has a turn."

For Love or For Money
|
While cultural lore
argues you can never be too rich, when couples care too much about
money, it may be at the expense of their marriages. In a study of more
than 1700 couples, researchers at Brigham Young University and William
Patterson University looked at how attitudes about money impacted
marriage.
Perhaps it is not
surprising that for couples for whom money was less of a priority than
love and relationship, scores on relationship quality were 10 - 15%
higher than couples where one or both partners were more materialistic.

Workshops: Willingness: The Key to Successful Relationships and Community As Healerl |
On Friday, November 18, my friends Margaret Arndt and David Sneickus will be hosting a new workshop I am leading, "Willingness: The Key to Successful Relationships" at their home in Newton.
Relationships
have the potential to provide great comfort, but sometimes they provide
disappointment, struggles and pain. Relationships get stuck when
people repeat the same patterns over and over again, lacking the tools
or insight to get underneath what doesn't work to unearth deeper issues
that really matter. This workshop will explore "willingness" and why it
is the key factor for happy and healthy relationships, and will offer
coaching tips to help people work more deeply with challenges rather
than blame, shut down or walk away.
We will explore:
* the evolution of relationships and the phases they go through as intimacy evolves * why working through issues is so important in the growth of a healthy relationship *
the importance of cultivating practices of willingness, appreciation
and gestures of goodwill to nurture and sustain relationships * self-care and self-responsibility as a foundational piece for healthy relating * what it means to love another person on their own terms so they really feel loved

So that new people can have an experience of EKP, I am offering a "Community As Healer Workshop" on Sunday, November 20 in Newton.
In
EKP, there are four roles: client, therapist, witness and helper, and
when anyone has a turn, everyone has a turn due to the impact of the
cardiac energy field. Workshop participants will have a chance to be
helper and witness as well as client, so in any one turn, more people
can be actively involved. By being with others in the healing process,
one might say the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and each
individual benefits from the healing work of others.

,The Psychology of Perception
|
It
is so easy to miss much in life, and even miss the very finest
treasures life has to offer if we focus our attention too narrowly and
don't think deeply about our priorities. Perhaps this is why it is so
easy to end up as frogs in a pot of boiling water, clueless of our
context or how we got there.
The following piece was sent to me by my best friend Brenda.
It is a very powerful message not only about the psychology of
perception, but also the danger of misplaced attention and priorities.

My first blog at www.heartspacecafe.com/blog
will still be active, but it is built in forum software, which many
people find more cumbersome to use than official "blog" software. In an effort to cultivate more dialogue in more contemporarily relevant ways, my new blog at HealingHeartPower.blogspot.com is user friendly, and even something you can subscribe to. Please let me know what you think of this new blog. |
